Fire Breaks Out in Banning Home

Fortunately, fire officials say the residence was vacant.

Firefighters contained a Banning fire in less than an hour Thursday, and managed to stop it from spreading to any nearby structures, fire officials report.

The fire was reported at 3:10 p.m. at 160 N. 1st Street, at an empty house, according to Riverside County Fire Department Spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson.

"The first arriving engine company reported the rear of a vacant residential structure involved with fire, no exposures," she reported.

Six engine companies, made up of 19 firefighters, responded to the blaze and had it contained by 4 p.m., according to Hendrickson.

No injuries were reported.
