Family of Six Displaced in Banning Fire

Four children and two adults lost their home Wednesday night when a fire broke out from unknown causes, according to fire officials.

A total of six people are without a home Thursday, after a fire tore through their Banning residence a night earlier.

The family was working with the help of friends to sort through their belongings that were damaged in the fire on Thursday afternoon, as seen in the photos above.

Melody Hendrickson of the Riverside County Fire Department says the fire broke out at around 7:45 p.m. in the 400 block of Drury Lane, near Nicolet Middle School.

When fire crews consisting of 19 firefighters and six engines first arrived on scene, they reported seeing heavy smoke coming from the roof of the single storey house, Hendrickson said.

Crews contained the blaze within 20 minutes, however one room and its contents were destroyed, and the house was deemed uninhabitable, according to fire reports.
