DUI Checkpoint Scheduled This Weekend in Beaumont

The Beaumont Police Department will hold a DUI checkpoint this Fourth of July weekend.

Beaumont police have scheduled a DUI/driver's license checkpoint for this holiday weekend, it was announced this week.

The operation will be held at an undisclosed location in the downtown area of town on Friday, July 5, according to City Spokeswoman Ashley Starr.

"The purpose of the checkpoint is to promote public safety; increase awareness of the dangers associated with drinking and driving, and serves as a deterrent to potential impaired and unlicensed drivers," Starr said.

Funding for the operation is provided via state and federal grants.
