DUI Checkpoint Scheduled Friday in Redlands

Just because the holidays are over, doesn't mean police are stopping their crackdown on those who get behind the wheel after drinking too much.

Redlands police hosted a DUI/driver's license checkpoint Friday in the city, it was announced earlier this week.

Police were scheduled to hold the checkpoint in the downtown area between the hours of 10 p.m. and 3 a.m., according to Sgt. Ricky Smith.

During the holidays-- a time during which several law enforcement agencies traditionally hold multiple DUI checkpoints-- Redlands police arrested 13 people on suspicion of driving under the influence at such operations.

Between Dec. 21 and 29, there were three DUI checkpoints, and a "saturation patrol" on Dec. 30, according to police.
