DUI Checkpoint Planned Tonight in Yucaipa

The DUI/driver's license checkpoint is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 1.

San Bernadino County sheriff's deputies will be checking for drunk drivers in the city of Yucaipa Friday night at a DUI checkpoint.

The checkpoint is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at an undisclosed location, and run until 1:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Deputy Kevin Allen.

"A major component of these checkpoints is to increase awareness of the dangers of impaired driving and to encourage sober designated drivers," Allen said in a press release. "A DUI checkpoint is a proven effective method for achieving this goal. By publicizing these enforcement and education efforts, the Yucaipa Police Department believes motorists can be deterred from drinking and driving."
