DUI Checkpoint Planned in Banning This Weekend

The operation will be held during the 4th of July holiday weekend, police announced Friday.

Banning police will staff a DUI/driver's license checkpoint in town this holiday weekend, it was announced Friday. 

The operation will be held at an undisclosed location beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 6, and run through 1 a.m. Monday, according to police.

"The Banning Police Department will show zero tolerance for suspected drunk or drugged drivers," a news release states.  "Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment. The officers will also be checking drivers for proper licensing. Motorists will only be delayed momentarily."

Funding for this operation comes from a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
