Crash in Badlands on WB 60, Fatal on 10 in Cathedral City, Patchy Fog in Pass

A three-vehicle crash on the westbound 60 at the summit in the Badlands was reported at 6:19 a.m., and a fatal crash was reported on the eastbound 10 in Cathedral City at 5:27 a.m.

A three-vehicle crash was reported Monday morning on the westbound 60 in the Badlands west of Beaumont, and a fatal crash was reported on eastbound Interstate 10 in Cathedral City, according to the CHP and Cal Fire.

Patchy fog was expected in the San Gorgonio Pass, but it was not clear whether fog was a factor in the crashes.

Two people were reported injured in a Hyundai Element, and all three vehicles made it off the traffic lanes to a large turnout, according to the CHP.

About 25 minutes after the crash, Cal Fire indicated they never received the call and were still en route, according to the CHP. Cal Fire was expected on scene by 6:55 a.m.

Tow truck crews were on scene by 7:30 a.m., according to the CHP.

The fatal crash on the eastbound 10 was reported at 5:27 a.m. near Bob Hope Drive in Cathedral City, according to Cal Fire.

"Firefighters responded to a single vehicle rollover in Cathedral City," Melody Hendrickson of Cal Fire-Riverside County said in a statement. "The single victim was ejected from the vehicle and perished at the scene."

Agencies that responded to the crash included the California Highway Patrol, Cal Fire, and the Riverside County Coroner, Hendrickson said.
