Coroner IDs Motorist Who Died Saturday on Sun Lakes Blvd. in Banning
The deceased was identified Monday by coroner's officials as Joann Walters, 63, of Banning. The crash was reported about 4:50 p.m. Saturday in the area of Sun Lakes Boulevard and Silver Lake Avenue, Banning police said.
A motorist who was fatally injured when a pickup truck struck a tree on Sun Lakes Boulevard was identified Monday.
Coroner's officials identified the deceased as Joann Walters, 63, of Banning.
The crash was reported shortly before 5 p.m. on Sun Lakes Boulevard, west of Silver Lake Avenue.

The woman died at the scene, police said.
Apparently the motorist made no attempt to avoid the tree and a medical emergency could have occurred, Sgt. Ray Arretche said.

"The road curves and the car just keeps going straight," the sergeant said.
According to Banning police, preliminary reports showed no drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
Autopsy results were not available Monday.
