Chase of Stolen Vehicle Leads to Teens' Arrests

The suspects are 16-year-old boys booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of residential burglary, possession of stolen property and auto theft; one of them was also booked for alleged probation violation.

Two 16-year-old boys who allegedly led cops on a chase in a vehicle stolen in San Jacinto were behind bars Saturday night, arrested when the vehicle broke down.

Sheriff's deputies were called to the 1200 block of Janessa Court about 10 p.m. Friday to investigate the case of a burglary in which personal possessions and a vehicle were taken, according to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Joey Nardone.

About 5 a.m., a sheriff's deputy spotted the stolen vehicle in the area of Park Avenue and Columbia Street in the unincorporated area of Hemet.

The sergeant unsuccessfully tried to stop the vehicle, prompting a short chase until the vehicle became disabled and all three suspects ran off.

Two were caught; the third was still at large.

Most of the property taken during the burglary was recovered from the vehicle, Nardone wrote in a news release.
