Calimesa Police Tout 'Shred-a-Thon' to Protect Against Fraud + Identity Theft

The event is planned 8 a.m. to noon Saturday March 10 in the parking lot outside Oak Valley Church, 9580 Calimesa Blvd.

Calimesa police are partnering with a privately-owned document-shredding company to host a 'shred-a-thon' and encourage residents to protect themselves against fraud and identity theft.

The event is planned 8 a.m. to noon Saturday March 10 in the parking lot outside Oak Valley Church, at 9580 Calimesa Blvd.

Free shredding services will be provided by Sergeant Shredder of Irvine, a company that provides "secure mobile shredding services" - trucks equipped with document shredders.

The business bills itself as trustworthy because "we only recruit driver personnel that are former military and law enforcement officers who successfully pass a comprehensive 7 year background investigation."

Residents can witness destruction of their records or documents onsite, a sheriff's department press release states.
