Calimesa Man Pleads Not Guilty to Murder of Wife

Edwin Fenty was arraigned on Wednesday.

A 62-year-old Calimesa man faced a murder charge today in connection with the death of his wife.

Edwin Gerard Fenty was arrested Monday after allegedly admitting that he fatally stabbed 58-year-old Beverly Gaiter-Fenty in the couple's house at 126 East Avenue L, according to Riverside County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Jeff Buompensiero.

He pleaded not guilty to the murder charge at his arraignment on Wednesday at the Banning Court and is due back in court on Oct. 1 for a felony settlement conference, according to court records.

"Deputies responded to the location and contacted Fenty outside the front of his residence," the sergeant said. "Fenty was detained, and deputies entered the residence and located a black female adult deceased in the hallway."
