Cabazon Woman Among 4 Injured in 3-Car Collision on Ramona Expressway

Two patients were trapped in the collision, which was reported at 6:03 a.m. Monday at Ramona Expressway and Lakeview Avenue, between San Jacinto and Perris, according to Cal Fire-Riverside County.

A Cabazon woman was among four people injured Monday morning in a three-vehicle collision on the Ramona Expressway between San Jacinto and Perris, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.

Two patients were trapped in the collision, which was reported at 6:03 a.m. near Ramona Expressway and the San Jacinto River in Lakeview, according to CHP and Cal Fire-Riverside County.

Mica Solomon, 35, of Cabazon, was driving a 1993 Honda Accord east on Ramona Expressway, and Pricilla McGee, 56, of Moreno Valley, was driving a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am west on Ramona Expressway, according to CHP.

Behind McGee, a man named Christian Franco, 34, of Riverside, was driving a 2011 Ford Fiesta west on the expressway, according to CHP.

"Solomon failed to maintain control of her vehicle and struck the bridge railing on the south side of the roadway," a CHP statement said. "This impact caused the Accord to travel out of control and cross the double yellow lines to enter the westbound traffic."

The right front of Solomon's Honda struck the right front of McGee's Pontiac, causing the vehicles to rotate, according to CHP. Franco was unable to slow in time and struck the right side of the Pontiac, according to CHP.

Three Cal Fire engine crews responded to the collision, which prompted closure of the popular commuters' route for more than 90 minutes.

Solomon, McGee, a passenger in McGee's Pontiac, and Franco were all transported via ambulance to Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley for treatment of injuries, according to CHP.

Solomon and McGee's passenger, Katie Dunford, 63, of Moreno Valley, sustained major injuries, according to CHP.

McGee sustained moderate injuries and Franco sustained minor injuries, according to CHP.

Ramona Expressway was closed about two hours, the CHP statement said. An investigation of the collision was continuing.
