Cabazon Home Destroyed in Fire, One Person Hospitalized

A man who was inside the house when the fire broke out was treated for smoke inhalation, fire officials said.

The cause of a late-night fire in Cabazon was under investigation Wednesday, fire officials said.

The fire broke out just after 11 p.m. Tuesday at a double-wide trailer in the 52300 block of Date Street in Cabazon, according to Melody Hendrickson of the Riverside County Fire Department.

"The double-wide was completely destroyed," Hendrickson reported, adding that 15 firefighters had the blaze contained by 11:51 p.m.

"One adult male occupant evacuated the home prior to firefighter arrival," the fire spokeswoman said in Tuesday night's report.  "He will be transported to an area hospital via ground ambulance with minor smoke inhalation."

The sole resident of the home was also being helped by the American Red Cross, she added.
