When they confronted the suspects about the burglary, "one suspect shot several rounds at the victim, hitting him three times before fleeing into the neighborhood," police said.

Banning police, Beaumont police and a Riverside County sheriff's helicopter crew searched the neighborhood and found two suspects hiding in a residence at 4502 Hillside Drive, Banning police said.

The suspects, Daniel N. Rocha, 21, and Gabriel T. Herrera, 25, were taken into custody and later booked at Smith Correctional in Banning, police said.

Both suspects are documented gang members, police said.

Rocha and Herrera were both held without bail Thursday afternoon on suspicion of attempted murder, firearm possession, possession of ammunition by a felon, and violating state parole felony, according to inmate records.
