Brush Fire Breaks Out in West Beaumont, Scorches Two Acres

A brush fire broke out Tuesday afternoon in west Beaumont and scorched two acres before it was contained by a contingent of six engine crews, according to Cal Fire.

The fire was reported at 4:51 p.m. June 18 west of the intersection of East Deodar Drive and South Monte Verde Drive, south of Brookside Avenue, Mark Annas of Cal Fire-Riverside County said in a statement.

A total of 34 firefighters responded and they declared the fire contained at 5:30 p.m., Annas said.

"Firefighters will be committed several hours for mop up," Annas said.

Responding agencies included Cal Fire-Beaumont, Cal Fire-Riverside County and the San Bernardino County Fire Department. Information on the cause of the fire was not immediately available.
