Boy Facing Assault Charges in Car Shooting

Police are investigating an alleged shooting at a car in San Jacinto.

A boy was facing a possible assault with a deadly weapon charge this weekend for allegedly shooting at a motorist in San Jacinto, Riverside County sheriff's officials said.

The victim said he was having car trouble and pulled over in the 600 block of Idyllwild Avenue just after 2 a.m. Friday. As he tried to restart his car, several males came out of a house and confronted him, according to a sheriff's department release.

One of the males slammed the man's car with a baseball bat, prompting him to drive away, and as he proceeded down the street another of the suspects fired several rounds from a handgun, striking the car's driver's side door, the release stated.
