Booking Photos Released of Suspects in Alleged Killing of Arthur Candelaria

Booking photos were released Friday of three suspects in the alleged killing last week of Arthur Felix Candelaria, 57, of Indio.

An assault with a deadly weapon was reported in the the 84000 block of Lingayan Street shortly after 7 p.m. Monday Jan. 13 and deputies responded to the neighborhood in the unincorporated county area of Indio, Sgt. Jeff Buompensiero of the sheriff's  Central Homicide Unit said in a statement.

"Upon arrival deputies located a Hispanic male adult in the driveway of a residence," Buompensiero said. "It appeared the male had suffered several stab wounds. The victim was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center, but died from his injuries."

Detectives from the Thermal Station and the Central Homicide Unit responded to investigate.

They identified a suspect the next day and arrested David Montoya Sanchez, 43, of Indio, on suspicion of murder, in the area of Jackson Street and Avenue 52 in Coachella, Buompensiero said.

On Thursday Jan. 23, detectives arrested Raymond Anthony Lopez, 22 of Indio, on suspicion of murder, and Melanie Anaya, 22, of Coachella, on suspicion of accessory to murder, Buompensiero said.

As of Friday afternoon, Sanchez, Lopez and Anaya remained behind bars in Indio. Sanchez and Lopez were held without bail, and Anaya was held on $500,000 bail, according to inmate records. Sanchez and Anaya have court dates Jan. 27 and Lopez has a court date Jan. 28.
