Booking Photo Released of Mexicali Man Accused of Meth Possession

Jose Bojorguez, 27, was on probation when he was stopped Saturday afternoon at the Morongo Travel Center, a sheriff's sergeant said.

A booking photo was released Monday of a man from Mexico who was arrested Saturday in Cabazon on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine for sale.

A deputy made a at 1:48 p.m. Saturday and the driver of the vehicle stopped at the Morongo Travel Center, 49020 Seminole Drive, Sgt. James Burton of the sheriff's Cabazon Station said in a statement.

The driver, Jose Alejandro Bojorguez, 27, of Mexicali, was on probation "with search terms," Burton said.

The deputy searched the vehicle and found "two clear plastic bags with a combined weight of 26 grams of white crystal substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine," Burton said.

Bojorguez was arrested and booked at Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of four felonies: possession of a controlled substance, possessing narcotics, sales, transport, distribution less than 1 ounce, and committing a felony with a prison prior, according to inmate records.

Bojorguez was held Monday at Smith Correctional on $50,000 bail, according to inmate records. He has a court date Wednesday in Banning.

Mexicali is in Baja Mexico, across the border from Calexico in Imperial County, southeast of El Centro and the Salton Sea.
