Booking Photo Released of Banning Man Accused in Stabbing on E. Nicolet

Jarvis Dewayne Bell, 28, was arrested in connection with the stabbing, reported at 1:07 p.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of East Nicolet, Banning police said. The alleged victim, a 38-year-old Banning man, was hospitalized.

A booking photo was released Thursday of a Banning man who was arrested and accused of stabbing another man Tuesday on East Nicolet Street.

The stabbing was reported at 1:07 p.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of East Nicolet, Banning police said in a statement.

The victim of the alleged assault, a 38-year-old Banning man, was "stabilized" and taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, police said. An update on his condition was not immediately available Thursday.

Police interviewed witnesses and identified Jarvis Dewayne Bell, 28, of Banning, as a possible suspect, police said. They found Bell a short time later "hiding behind a home located at 278 N. Cherry Street," police said.

"Bell attempted to evade capture by running through the back yard of the residence," police said. "However, Bell was subdued and taken into custody uninjured. Additionally it was learned that Bell is on parole."

Bell was taken to Banning police headquarters and then to Smith Correctional, where he was booked Tuesday evening on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and violating parole, police said.

Bell was held Thursday without bail, according to inmate records. He had a court date scheduled Thursday morning in Banning.
