Man Arrested for Making Bomb Threat on Bus in Hemet

Police shut down a two block radius and evacuated passengers, but no bomb was found.

A man was arrested Saturday for allegedly making a bomb threat aboard a bus, according to a sergeant.

A man allegedly claimed to have a bomb while riding the bus at Yale Street and Florida Avenue. Police shut down a two block radius and evacuated passengers, Hemet police Sgt. G. Brock said.

Members of the Riverside County Sheriff's bomb squad were dispatched to the location at 12:47 p.m. and determined two hours later that the back pack the suspect carried was not a danger to the public. The man was arrested but his name was not released, as police were trying to verify who he is, according to Brock.
