Sheriff's homicide detectives had a suspect in custody Sunday in connection with the murder of a woman and a 6-year-old girl, and the slashing attack of a second woman.

Someone called for help at 8:13 p.m. Saturday, from a home in the 40000 block of Sunset Lane, according to the sheriff's department. Deputies found a woman, who had been cut with an unknown object during an apparent domestic violence call, but still alive, Riverside County sheriff's Deputy Michael Vasquez said.

Dispatchers received a second 911 call that night about an hour later from the 26000 block of Girard Street, about 1.3 miles away from the Sunset Lane scene.

There, deputies found the bodies of a woman and the girl. Vasquez confirmed the girl's age, but said he did not know her relationship to the woman. However, the attacks at Sunset Lane and Girard Street were linked, Vasquez told City News Service.

The suspect's name was also not released as he was being questioned but not booked, Vasquez said.
