A man lost control of his bicycle today in Palm Springs, veered down an embankment and head-first, killing him, a sergeant said.
Police were dispatched at 8:38 a.m. to a bike path on the 3100 block of East Palm Canyon Drive and learned the man had fallen off his bicycle on the way down an embankment, Palm Springs police Sgt. Erik Larson said.
The victim struck his head on a pavement at the bottom of the embankment. He was taken to a hospital where he died, Larson said.
The bicyclist's name was not released pending notification of relatives, and the police report did not indicate if he had been wearing a helmet. The bike path was closed as police conducted an investigation, Larson said.—City News Service
