BEAUMONT MURDER: Person of Interest Arrested, Booked

Jail records indicate the person who police were looking to question in relation to a recent murder has been arrested.

Update 12:15 p.m.:  Beaumont police say Fierro has been booked on a charge of murder in the death of a local woman.

According to police spokeswoman Darci Mulvihill, Fierro was located in Simi Valley, thanks to several leads they were given.

"Detectives immediately began following up on several leads and determined that Fierro was in Simi Valley," Mulvihill said.  "Fierro was located in the 1900 block of Stowe Street in Simi Valley and taken into custody with the assistance of the Simi Valley Police Department."

Bail has been set at one million dollars for Fierro, a convicted felon.

As for what Fierro's connection to Simi Valley is, police said they could not immediately disclose that information, due to the ongoing investigation.

Vanessa Kathleen Fierro, who was sought by Beaumont police for questioning in the murder of a 44-year-old local woman, has been arrested, jail records indicate.

Fierro was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning at 9:19 a.m. Wednesday, according to county jail records.

Beaumont police had said Fierro was the roommate of murder victim Elizabeth "Coti"Asselin, and when she was found dead Feb. 28, she was named a "person of interest" in the case.

It was not immediately clear what charge she was booked on, as only preliminary records are available at this time.

Beaumont Police are expected to release details about the apprehension of Fierro soon.
