An injury crash was reported about 7:35 p.m. Sunday Aug. 12 on 5th Street at Cunningham, just north of San Bernardino International Airport, according to the Sheriff's Department.

A Beaumont man was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving under the influence, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

An injury crash was reported about 7:35 p.m. Sunday Aug. 12 on 5th Street at Cunningham, just north of San Bernardino International Airport, a Highland deputy said in a statement.

A full-size Ford pickup truck collided with a Mitsubishi Galant sedan. The driver and front passenger in the Galant were injured, and the driver of the Ford pickup ran from the scene, deputies said.

Deputies caught the man and identified him as the driver of the Ford pickup, Jose Inez Garcia, 31, of Beaumont. Inmate records show Garcia was arrested in the 26700 block of 6th Street.

"During further investigation, it was determined that Garcia was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and a parolee at large," Highland deputies said. "Garcia was placed under arrest and booked for Felony Hit & Run, Felony DUI and a parole hold."

Garcia was booked at Central Detention Center in San Bernardino, where he remained Thursday and he was held without bail, according to inmate records. He has a court appearance scheduled Wednesday, Aug. 22, in San Bernardino.
