Banning Police Investigate Shooting of Palm Springs Man

Gunshot victim walked into the San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital emergency room early Tuesday.

A 20-year-old Palm Springs man told police he was shot early Tuesday near the 1100 block of Weaver Street in Banning.

Police were dispatched at 2:34 a.m. to the area of  1161 Weaver Street, where they found several shell casings in the road in front of the home.

Residents at 1161 Weaver Street and the surrounding area told police they heard the shots, but they did not see the shooting.

While processing the crime scene, officers learned a gunshot victim had walked into the San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital emergency room.

The 20-year-old told police he was standing with some friends about one block north of 1161 Weaver Street when he heard gun shots.

A few seconds later, he felt a burning feeling in his left forearm and discovered he had been shot, police said.

He did not provide any additional information and was treated and released from the hospital.
