Banning PD: Gang Members Shoot at House, Get Away

Police say that no one was hit when bullets struck the home.

Banning police are looking for alleged gang members who shot at a house with people inside Tuesday night and got away, officials said.

The incident happened Tuesday night around 7:15 p.m. at a house on the 1700 block of W. Williams Street, according to a press release sent to Patch from Chief Leonard Purvis.

"When officers arrived, they were told that several gang members opened fire on a  residence..." the statement said.

Responding officers were told the suspects were driving a black Chrysler— and a sheriff's deputy in the area spotted a vehicle matching the description a short time later headed eastbound on the I-10 Freeway onramp at Ramsey Street, according to Purvis.

"The deputy observed a subject throw an unknown object from the vehicle along the Ramsey Street I-10 underpass," he said.

At that point, the deputy lost sight of the vehicle— but he was able to recover a handgun that had been tossed out, according to Purvis.

Though there were people inside the house when bullets came through, no one was hurt.
