Banning Man's Arraignment in Fatal Beaumont Shooting Reset For Friday

The arraignment for DeMario Anton Jackson, on the court calendar each day this week, has been delayed because Jackson has not been medically cleared to appear in court.

Arraignment was rescheduled to Friday for a Banning man, accused of murder in a shooting in Beaumont on July 16, who was then shot and wounded by a police officer.

DeMario Anton Jackson, 25, was scheduled to be arraigned Monday, and each day since his court appearance has been rescheduled because he was not medically cleared for court.

Jackson, a former developer with business ties in the Banning community, was identified by law enforcement as the alleged gunman in the fatal shooting of Andy Albarran, 46, early July 16 outside a Beaumont nightclub.

Jackson was in the 500 block of Beaumont Avenue when he allegedly shot and wounded Albarran, who died later that day at a hospital, according to Beaumont police and Riverside County coroner's officials.

In the officer-involved shooting that followed, Jackson was shot "multiple times" and has undergone multiple surgeries, said Jackson's defense attorney Susanne Cho.

Jackson's bail was listed at $1 million.

Jackson's arraignment was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Friday, July 29, in Department 42 of Riverside Superior Court, according to court records, but it was not clear whether he would be medically cleared to appear.

Cho said she was trying to contact witnesses who saw what happened early Saturday, and she urged them to contact her at attycho@gmail.com or (760) 320-2000.

Both shootings were being investigated by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
