Alleged Beaumont Walmart Robber Pleads Not Guilty

Most of the money stolen has not been recovered.

An alleged Beaumont Walmart robber has pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping to commit robbery or rape, felony firearm use and robbery.

Raul Rey Trujillo, 25, a former employee of the Corona Walmart that also was robbed, could face life in prison if convicted on all charges.  Trujillo was charged in connection with robberies in Palm Desert and Beaumont, where more than $150,000 was taken after Trujillo allegedly drew a store clerk into an argument to attract the manager, then pulled a gun and forced the manager to open a safe in the cash room.  Only a small portion of the amount stolen has been recovered.

Judge Jeffry Prevost set bail at $1 million.  Trujillo is in custody at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
