Adopt a Pet for $20 at Riverside County Fair

The county's department of animal services is hoping to adopt out some pets from their largest shelters.

Why take a goldfish home from the fair when you can bring home a new dog?

For the first time ever, the Riverside County Department of Animal Services will set up shop at the county fair in Indio, and offer up adoption specials of just $20.

That's according to the department's spokesman, John Welsh, who says the dogs will come from the the county's Thousand Palms and Jurupa Valley shelters.

"Many of the dogs have already been professionally groomed for free, courtesy of Zuri Pet Spa & Resort, a San Juan Capistrano-based grooming business," Welsh said.  "The dogs are also spayed or neutered, microchipped and have their current vaccinations."

Fair attendees can adopt and take their new pet home with them all on the same day, he said.
