Assemblyman Brian Nestande Shuns Voters!

Assembly candidate Brian Nestande shuns district voters by refusing to come out to answer questions from voters at a candidate forum hosted by Mount San Jacinto Community College.

Posted by Orozco for Assembly 2012.

SAN JACINTO, CA - Mark Orozco’s opponent for the open 42nd Assembly District continues to ignore repeated requests from the Mount San Jacinto Community College political science department to attend an open candidate forum at the college.

The forum, scheduled for Thursday October 4, is designed to give college students and community voters a chance to meet the candidates, hear them speak, and judge each on the merits. Unfortunately, Brian Nestande has not responded to repeated invitations from MSJC. In a final attempt to engage Nestande, Mark Orozco mailed a personal appeal to him requesting his attendance at the event for the benefit of voters.

Public debates have long been a staple of our political landscape and date back to the very founding of our great nation. Debates give voters a much needed opportunity to judge the qualities of a candidate in person without the usual media filter. Mr. Nestande’s refusal to attend the community forum suggests that he has something to lose in a transparent race.

At the MSJC forum Mark Orozco plans to respond to questions from the community about his qualifications and issue positions. The event is free and open to the public. It will be held at the MSJC San Jacinto campus in room 1500 from 12:45pm to 1:45pm. Everyone is invited to come out and learn more about the important issues that face our District this election.

Mark is running to represent the newly-drawn 42nd Assembly District. The 42nd District includes San Bernardino County; 29 Palms, Morongo Valley, Yucaipa, Yucca Valley, Landers, Joshua Tree, and Pioneertown, as well as Riverside County; Beaumont, Banning, Cherry Valley, Cabazon, Calimesa, San Jacinto, Hemet, White Water, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, La Quinta, and Rancho Mirage.
