Time for Full Disclosure Beaumont

Maybe it's time for Beaumont to invite the public to a quarterly open q and a that is separate from the council meetings. My thought is a good percentage of residents have questions but don't feel a council meeting is the right forum. I for one have questions that need answers. Good luck to me!

If you care to hear the same lies we all hear at Council meetings, you too can be indoctrinated into thinking Beaumont Cares about its citizens. Kapanicas and Urban Logic only care about keeping their revenue stream flowing straight from the taxpayers into their greedy hands. All the PR spouted by these con men cannot hide the truth. www.beaumontgate.org

...and this is why I stopped participating in Patch "discussions." If anyone tries to say anything constructive, they immediately get attacked by Judy or Libi. No one knows how to act like adults. Reminds me of how my junior high school stepdaughter acts on Facebook. Maybe some of the folks commenting on here could use a lesson in PR... You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. I was interested in Lloyd's "BEDCOM" proposal, but that seems to have died off in favor of name-calling and accusations. Oh well, I don't have a dog in this fight.

Nick, Thanks for mentioning the Beaumont Economic Development Committee, BEDCOM. I received a lot of initial interest but became a little disillusioned when I learned businesses wanted formal contact from the city. A number of people contacted the businesses I highlighted but not the overwhelming support I was going for. I was also hoping the city might pick up on my idea and recruit citizens for a committee but all I've heard is crickets. I am working some ideas on my own that may have some promise. Until we get the right motivation from council and the administration to recruit businesses, all we can expect are more houses. I was hoping the council would look for consultants with an idea for growing our businesses and services to meet the needs of our community. It seems from comments at the last council meeting that our Chamber of Commerce is also content with the status quo. I know I had a lot of hope but it will take more than hope . It will take business leaders and elected leaders making a concerted effort to bring the economic development we need. I haven't given up just trying a different path.
