COPS and HARLEY'S

I have often wondered why our police do not cite loud motorcycle operators when they are obviously violating noise regulations.   Just last week I observed two diverse enforcement examples by local police:  a friend who had put ‘Hollywood’ exhaust on her Chevy was ticketed for noise.  The next day while leaving the Beaumont Post Office, a Harley rider took off from the stop sign revving his noise maker to the hilt.  Luckily – I thought – one of Beaumont’s finest was crossing the same intersection.  Good, I said.  Well, guess what.  Beaumont’s finest totally ignored the violation and just drove on by.

Why do you think most police officers ignore loud motorcycle law-breakers:

1)      Cops are intimidated by motorcyclists?

2)      Cops are motorcyclists themselves?

3)      Cops wish to endear themselves to motorcyclists?

4)      Cops feel motorcycles should make a lot of noise?

5)      Cops think noise ordinances do not apply to motorcycles?

6)      Other?
