Pet owners should consider microchipping their dogs and cats to aid in reuniting with them after an emergency evacuation. Horse owners should place dog tags engraved with a name and phone number on halters so that owners can be contacted if horses are evacuated by rescue groups or animal control. It could save a lot of grief and anxiety during already stressful times.
