Woman Killed in MoVal Crash with Suspect DUI Driver Identified as San Jacinto Resident

The woman killed in a weekend accident involving a suspected drunken and drug-impaired driver was identified Tuesday as 31-year- old Erika Cuevas of San Jacinto.

The Riverside County coroner's office said Cuevas died at the scene around 40 minutes after her 2014 Kia Forte struck a Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck that earlier swerved into another vehicle, then spun into the eastbound lanes of the Moreno Valley (60) Freeway, ending up facing the wrong way.

Cuevas' vehicle then plowed head-on into the by-then blacked-out pickup truck, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Driving the pickup was 23-year-old Mariah Guzman of Colton, who was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence, said CHP Officer Travis Monks. She was in custody at Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley where she and her front-seat passenger were taken for treatment of moderate injuries, he said.

The accident happened around 1:50 a.m. Sunday on the eastbound 60 near Moreno Beach Drive in Moreno Valley, according to Monks.
