Trucker Killed in Beaumont Crash Identified

The man died following a crash between two semi-trucks last week.

The trucker, Moises Guerra, 61, of Rancho Cucamonga, was headed east on the Pomona (60) Freeway at 8:52 p.m. Thursday in a large Volvo truck. California Highway Patrol spokesman Darren Meyer said a second trucker, who had been stopped along the shoulder in his large truck. pulled out in front of Guerra's truck.

The second truck's semi-trailer struck the left side of Guerra's truck, causing him to lose control and plunge down the embankment and into a ravine about a quarter mile east of Jack Rabbit Trail, the Riverside County Coroner's Office reported.

The movement caused Guerra's entire multi-ton load of dried food to shift forward and crush the cab, killing him instantly, Meyer said.

The cargo made it hard to remove Guera's body. Traffic was snarled for several hours as CHP officers investigated, Meyers said.
