Elderly San Jacinto Man Killed While Crossing Street in Motorized Scooter

The Riverside County coroner's office reports the death happened early Monday morning.

A 75-year-old San Jacinto man in a wheelchair died from fatal injuries after he was hit by a vehicle while crossing a Hemet roadway, the coroner's office reported Monday.

The incident happened at 11:50 p.m. on Florida Avenue, about 532 feet east of San Jacinto Avenue, according to the Riverside County Coroner's Office.

A coroner's report indicates Freddie Williams, Jr. was on a "motorized wheelchair that was struck by an SUV while crossing the street."

The man was ejected from the scooter, and died about twenty minutes later at the scene of the crash, reports indicated.

It wasn't immediately clear if he was in a crosswalk or not, or if any arrests were made in connection to the incident.
