Gregorian Calendar ~ All Fools' Day ~ April Fools'?

April Fools' Day  ~ and Which is Your Wildest of Memories . . .

In 1582 the Gregorian Calendar came into effect.  This was the year France, Pope Gregory XIII, adopted the Gregorian Calendar ~  New Year's day changed from the end of March, to January ~ Some people remained un-receptive to the New Calendar, they kept their New Year in March ~ therefore being seen as fools;  the concept, ideas, the main idea of how April Fools' Day came to be.  This idea continued to grow, pranks followed in the old world, those stuck in the old calendar were the "old fools" ~ April Fools ~ interesting concept, interesting theory.

Other theories from other cultures abound - some believe Purim for the Jewish faith; Hilaria in the Greco Roman.  Cultures have their own ideas, we have our own ideas, one can only speculate where this April Fools' Day originated.  I believe what we can all agree on ~ is that we have all heard of a prank played, played a prank, or had a prank played on us since we have been in grade school onward. Can you remember the first grade school prank played on you . . . try to remember . . . Have fun, and keep it safe ~ laura.
