Showers And Thunderstorms Target Pass Area Through Friday

Judging by the comments on the Banning-Beaumont Facebook Page, many saw flood watches go up in their area with no rain with the last event.  The reason for this was due to the flow being from the south-southwest instead of southeast ... this time it is southeast.

To get a flash flood one does not need to have heavy rainfall directly over their house.  I was driving on Highway 62 last Sunday and there was not rain where I was at yet the flash flood came down the eastern side of the San Bernardino Mountain Range.  It overtook the road and closed it for the night.  Luckily my storm chase team made it out of there, after having seen a tornado in Twentynine Palms.

The flash flood could easily be started far away, and areas near the slopes of the mountains or steep foothills would be at risk.

Today the flow is out of the east, tomorrow the southeast.  Depending on debris clouds (mid-high level clouds) left over from Mexico and Arizona will depend on what we get.  We could end up with severe storms, or the traditional sprinkle as of late across the pass area.

But because little is known about how the debris clouds will affect the area, to take precautions the area is under a Flood Watch here at the Southern California Weather Authority.com through at least Friday.
