SCWXA Issues High Heat Warning For Banning Pass

A major ridge of high pressure will move overhead starting at the end of this week.  For a week, Facebook posts at Southern California Weather Authority.com have warned of the coming heat.

SCWXA High Heat Warning has just been issued ....

Banning Pass residents will be receiving 100-105 degree temperatures, with temperatures hotter in some locations.  These temperatures can and most likely will create heat related injuries if not properly prepared, especially hikers and anyone working outside.

Because of the flow, monsoonal moisture trapped will up the humidity feel so this is not just a dry heat ... we may have monsoonal moisture in the area for heat index factors to 110F.

This will last through the weekend where it will peak, and into next week.  The only relief will be if showers and thunderstorms form over Mt. San Jacinto and move into the pass under the monsoonal flow.  Moisture looks pretty dry below 12,000 feet but will be monitoring the pattern closely.

High Heat Warning (HHW) - A High Heat Warning is for 105-110+ degrees from May to June 20th, and 110+ degrees during the Summer for desert locations, and 100+ for valley locations. Temperatures like this can be hard on the sensitive and never leave living things in cars with the windows up when it is this hot out. Drink plenty of water and eat saltine crackers if outside to replenish the body. These are dangerous temperatures. If living in the desert we know you are use to this but people traveling through there might not be and this is for them.
