Redistricting Made Easy

A former Beaumont mayor will explain the ever-complicated redistricting process at Thursday's meeting of the Redlands Tea Party Patriots.

Rep. Jerry Lewis’ domination of the Redlands area has turned races for his gerrymandered congressional seat into an election night snoozefest.

But now that the porker-in-chief is retiring, several political yahoos are jumping into the race – including Redlands Mayor Pete Aguilar, one of the most vacuous empty suits I have ever met in my former life as a newspaper reporter.

The resulting tumult stemming from the once-a-decade redistricting process needs some common sense, which is why I’m thrilled to announce that former Beaumont Mayor Jan Leja will be our guest speaker at this month’s meeting of the Redlands Tea Party Patriots.

On Thursday, Feb. 2, Leja will speak at the Mill Creek Cattle Co., 1874 Mentone Blvd. The two-hour meeting begins at 7 p.m. We meet in the back hall. At least 100 people usually attend our monthly meetings. The meeting is free and open to the public. Feel free to come early for dinner as many patriots do.

I will also briefly discuss our successful neighborhood canvassing program. There will be other and ample opportunities for patrioticAmericans to get off the couch and into the political process.
