Blood Drive on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Banning

Martin Luther King Jr. gave his "I Have a Dream" speech on the Mall in the Nation's Capital in August 1963.

Monday is MLK Day in the San Gorgonio Pass and across the United States.

One way to get involved locally is a local blood drive and marrow screening, scheduled 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 20 at First Missionary Baptist Church, 332 N. Allen St. in Banning.

The Blood of the Martyrs blood drive is sponsored by the nonprofit LifeStream, established by medical societies of Riverside and  San Bernardino counties. Each donor Monday can receive a $5 gift card for Subway while supplies last.

For more info about the Monday event contact Debbie Franklin at (951) 849-8113. For more on LifeStream visit www.lstream.org.
