Beaumont's "boys in blue" will serve the public in a different way than normal this week, as they take orders and help deliver dinners at a local restaurant.

On Thursday, Feb. 27, police officers and firefighters will volunteer to wait tables at Applebee's, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and take "tips" for a good cause.

"During the evening, officers and firefighters will work with Applebee’s staff to serve customers their food and drink," Beaumont Spokeswoman Ashely Starr said.  "All tips given to the City’s 'Boys in Blue' will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) to help in the fight against neuromuscular diseases."

The Beaumont Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar is located at 1585 E. 6th St., just west of Highland Springs Avenue.

Good news is last year the PD officers were so lazy they didn't touch many peoples food! They mostly just hung out in clumps together I suppose seeing whose gut was the largest. Did you all ever notice how unfit your PD is? The FD was awesome and you can tell the difference in work ethic!

Wow Washy. it seems as though you've taken a liking to the FD boys. Look into the difference in work schedules between the two and that may lead you towards an answer. Although I have great respect for both professions, police officers do not have the time during a work shift to work out and cook healthy meals.

Exceeding expectations..........easy enough as they were not that high to begin with........

Wow reality I know many officers across the Southland and Beaumont PD do have enough time to maintain a healthy lifestyle and work out. What good is a fat cop? What good is a fat cop who cannot run a mile? What good is a fat cop who is winded after chasing a murder suspect for a block (which is why they shoot first then chase) I was just sharing my observation not my favoritism (life was great before morons found the internet and tried to have intelligent conversations)

(PS I said WORK ethic not WORK OUT ethic there is a difference)
