Wintry Weather Mix Comes to Banning, Beaumont

How long with this wet and cold weather stay around?

After a day filled with a mix of snow, rain and hail in The Pass, you may be wondering how long this cold weather is going to stick around.

According to Meteorologist Kevin Martin with the Southern California Weather Authority, who often posts weather blogs here on Patch, we will continue to see it through the night.

"Showers will continue to be off and on across the pass locations, with a snow level of 3,500 feet or so," Martin said of Friday's weather outlook.

"The moist northwest flow behind the storm system is what will continue the showers ... In addition to this, the west flow will bring gusty winds through the pass through tonight," he said.

Here's what the National Weather Service has forecast through the weekend for Beaumont:

  • Friday Afternoon: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. West wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
  • Friday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Cloudy, with a low around 39. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
  • Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 56. South wind around 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
  • Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 39. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

As for Banning, here's the forecast from NWS:

  • Friday Afternoon: Showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
  • Friday Night: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 37. West wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
  • Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 53. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
  • Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 39. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable after midnight.
