Three Hospitalized in I-10 Whitewater Crash

One of those injured had to be cut from their vehicle with the jaws of life, fire officials reported.

Three people were hospitalized following a crash Thursday on Interstate 10 in the Whitewater area, fire officials reported.

The accident happened around 6:50 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-10, just east of State Route 62, according to Melody Hendrickson of the Riverside County Fire Department.

Two vehicles collided for unknown reasons, trapping one of the people inside, Hendrickson reported.

By 7:20 p.m., that person was freed from the wreckage.

"There were a total of three patients transported to an area hospital – one major, one moderate (the extricated patient) and one minor," Hendrickson said.
