Second Day of Sausage Fest Brings Crowds

More than 1,100 attended the second day of Highland Spring Resort's second annual Sausage and Beer Festival Sunday for beer, sausages, music and games in Cherry Valley.

The second day of the Second Annual Sausage and Beer Festival brought out some 1,100 people on Sunday looking for cold beer and hot brats in Cherry Valley, according to a Highland Springs Resort official.


Volunteer Lisa Seeger, 17, of Ravensburg, Germany, led youths in a game of ‘Schokoladenessen’.

Seeger, who is in town during a school break, said the game is translated as, ‘chocolate eating’ game.  
Contestants rolled a die hoping to get a six.

Then that person would quickly put on a safari hat, long scarf and oven mitts before attempting to eat a rapidly melting chocolate bar.

The game was won by Amanda Carter, 11, who attends Diamond Valley Middle School in Hemet.

The free event included seven different types of sausages, including a vegan bratwurst, and authentic German-inspired dishes by High Springs Resort Chef Stefan Weck.
