Night Lane Closures on Interstate 10 Could Slow Travelers in the Pass

Overnight closures continue at the 10 connector to State Route 60 in Beaumont, where detours are available, according to CHP and Caltrans. Further east, overnight closures on the 10 at N. Indian Canyon Drive in Palm Springs are expected through Saturday.

Overnight lane closures on Interstate 10 in Beaumont and Palm Springs could slow travelers in the San Gorgonio Pass through Saturday, according to the California Highway Patrol and Caltrans.

The westbound 10 transition to State Route 60 in Beaumont was closed early Wednesday, but detours were available, a CHP dispatcher in Indio said in a phone interview.

In addition, the two fast lanes were closed in both directions on the 10 near the 60 interchange, the dispatcher said. The night closures started about a week ago, she said.

Caltrans estimated the closures would be from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Saturday morning.

Further east on the 10 in Palm Springs, the interstate was closed for bridge repairs at North Indian Canyon Drive, another CHP dispatcher said. Detours were available.

Through 5 a.m. Wednesday, the closures were for all westbound lanes and the two fast eastbound lanes.

Late Wednesday through 5 a.m. Thursday, the closures were expected to be for all eastbound lanes and the two fast westbound lanes.

Late Thursday through 5 a.m. Friday, all westbound lanes were expected to be closed again in addtion to the two fast eastbound lanes.

Overnight Friday, the two slow lanes in both directions were expected to be closed, with no detours necessary, the dispatcher said.
