Magnitude 3.2 Temblor Rattles Mountains North of Cabazon, Northeast of Banning

The quake struck at 8:17 p.m. seven miles north of Cabazon and nine miles east-northeast of Banning, according to the U.S.Geological Survey. It measured magnitude 3.2, according to the USGS.

A 3.2 earthquake struck at 8:17 p.m. Thursday in the San Gorgonio Wilderness northeast of Banning and north of Cabazon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A Banning police dispatcher at 10 p.m. said she received no calls about the quake, and she did not feel it herself.

The quake's epicenter was seven miles north of Cabazon, nine miles east-northeast of Banning, and eight miles south-southeast of 11,499-foot San Gorgonio Mountain, the highest point in Southern California, according to the USGS.

The depth of the quake was 12.3 miles below the earth's surface, according to the USGS.

A "Did You Feel It?" USGS web page received eight responses within two hours of the quake, including two in the city of Riverside area.
