'Fast-Moving Pacific Weather System Will Bring Snow and Gusty Winds in Mountains': NWS

A winter weather advisory was issued from 3 p.m. Wednesday to 3 a.m. Thursday for elevations above 4,500 feet.

It's spring, but more winter and whiteout conditions were expected in the mountains on both sides of the San Gorgonio Pass late Wednesday and Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter weather advisory was issued from 3 p.m. Wednesday to 3 a.m. Thursday for elevations above 4,500 feet, and snow levels could come down to 3,500 feet by Thursday morning.

From 4 to 8 inches of snow were forecast for the overnight storm above 4,500 feet, with winds 15 to 25 miles per hour and gusts to 35 mph. Visibility could be near zero at times, with snow, blowing snow and dense fog, the Weather Service warned. Residents and travelers in the mountains should prepare for hazardous winter weather and possible road closures.
