Beer and Brats Fest Continues at Highland Springs

A relaxed family crowd of more than 1,500 attendees turn out for U.S. and German Beers, European Sausages and German dishes with traditional festival and live music.

The second annual Sausage and Beer Festival drew some 1,500 people to Highland Springs Resort President, according to its president, Tina Kummerle.

A nice crowd was expected for Sunday as well, tempted as they were by domestic and imported beers and German culinary favorites.
‘Shadow Mountain Band’ played a mixture of live bluegrass and hillbilly blues. Guitarist/vocalist Steve Lester of Joshua Tree said he and violinist Bobby Furgo, of Pioneer Town, were to play Sunday.
The free event at 10600 Highland Springs Avenue, in Cherry Valley, included seven different types of sausages, -- a vegan bratwurst was among the offerings -- and authentic German-inspired dishes by High Springs Resort Chef Stefan Weck.

He was assisted on the grill by Highland Springs' George Perez,
Highland Springs Resort made it a two-day event this year following a great response last year.
