LIVE Pre-Race Route View: Bienvenidos a Casa Palacios at 6th + Beaumont Ave

This is a live stream from Beaumont, California, on Wednesday March 21, in advance of the Beaumont stage of the Redlands Bicycle Classic on Friday March 23, 2012.

City of Beaumont and bike race officials are gearing up for the Beaumont stage of the 28th Annual Redlands Bicycle Classic this Friday.

City officials recommend watching at Beaumont Civic Center, where all race events start and finish. Bleacher seating will be available.

Organizers with the city also encourage bike race enthusiasts to check out local businesses along the race route. Casa Palacios is at East 6th and Beaumont Avenue, a prime viewing spot.

The restaurant has a shaded patio on the northeast corner of East 6th and Beaumont, and manager Dora Cortez Palacios said she plans to have a carrito outside serving fresh-made tacos.

"We also make guacamole fresh at the table, not every place does it this way," Cortez Palacios said Wednesday. "We do our tortillas fresh, too. We try to do it very authentic, just like in Mexico. We come from Puebla, a beautiful city, and this is how we prepare food. We want people to feel at home."

There are various shopping centers located on both 6th Street, Beaumont Avenue and Oak Valley Parkway, city officials said.

"These locations have plenty of parking and space to sit back and view the riders flying by, between laps you could even browse the local shops," city officials said.

The Beaumont stage of the Redlands Bicycle Classic features three separate races through Beaumont and Cherry Valley:

- Handcycling race for disabled athletes, scheduled start at 7:45 a.m.

- Men's race, scheduled start at 9:15 a.m., consists of 5 laps.

- Women's race, scheduled start at 9:30 a.m., consists of 3 laps.

All race events start and finish at Beaumont Civic Center, 550 E. 6th St.

The circuit route in Beaumont is identical to last year, Race Director Eric Reiser said. It covers 24.1 miles and includes climbs and descents in and near Bogart Park.

Men will ride 5 laps of the circuit to total 120.5 miles, and women will ride 3 laps to total 72.3 miles.
